    Description

Henry Clay: Spectacular Large 50" 1844 Campaign Flag Banner. One of the largest varieties of political flags ever produced at 50" x 30.5", it features a terrific bold Clay portrait in the 15.5" x 14.5" canton. Very strong reds and blues, and in excellent overall condition. The white areas show typical even toning and there is some minor light water staining, and there are three trivial tiny holes at the top from long-ago suspension. But these are really noted just for accuracy. As the photograph shows, this flag has great display presence. It is a variety especially prized by collectors because a Polk mate was also produced, offering the tantalizing possibility of owning a mated pair. It is interesting to note that the condition is clearly superior to the plate example on page 117 in Threads of History.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
