Grover Cleveland, James G. Blaine and Benjamin Harrison: Ribbon Quilt. After an election, people could throw out their campaign items, save them as souvenirs or bookmarks, or recycle them into something useful. They were sometimes used as scraps in crazy quilts. That's the norm. This 72" x 61" quilt or bedcover is something else! The front is composed entirely of four varieties of political ribbons. There are two different ribbons from 1884 (Blaine & Logan and Cleveland & Hendricks) and two different ribbons from 1888 (Harrison & Morton and Cleveland & Thurman). The ribbons are blue, yellow, red and white. They form a pattern known as "Streak of Lightning". We estimate there are approximately one thousand ribbons in the quilt. The backing is solid red and inscribed by the maker "Leona A. Malek 7820 Yates Ave." Save for some fading and bleeding in the lower right corner, it is in excellent condition with normal, light wear. We are familiar with a similar piece for Garfield and Hancock sold in one of Tom Slater's fixed price color catalogs in the early nineties. It was probably a effort of the same Mrs. Malik.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
