Andrew Johnson: Fantastic End-of-War Bandanna. After Lincoln's assassination, a shocked and battle-weary public could still celebrate the end of the Civil War. This 27" x 26" cotton bandanna was issued in conjunction with this celebration. The central medallion shows "Andrew Johnson, President" above a vignette of the "Battle of Richmond" (actually a misnomer, as Richmond was evacuated). The corners have portraits of Generals Meade, Sheridan, Sherman and Grant. Streamers intertwined with olive branches are inscribed with the names of famous battles won by Union forces. The bottom streamers summarize the struggle: "American Victory. Liberty. Union. Emancipation." Considering its age, the bandanna is in excellent condition. There is light, overall aging and some scattered ink spots. It is entirely intact, with no tears, loss or repairs. It is one of the top two Johnson items in existence (the other being the folk art banner formerly in the Kenton Broyles Collection). It has been beautifully, archivally framed... floating, shadow-box style, against a linen ground. A real showpiece!

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
