VERY RARE AND UNUSUAL 1868 GRANT COLFAX ELECTORAL TICKET FROM NORTH CAROLINA. This distinctive variety is highly unusual on three counts:1) It is from a former Confederate State. It is extremely unusual to see a Republican presidential item from this region so shortly after the war, 2) The printing is brown or sepia rather than the typical black and 3) The woodcut is most unusual depicting a liberator with an American flag while a black man carries a bale of cotton up the steps. Length is 8 ¼". Ballots and electoral tickets have become a "hot" collectible specialty and this is certainly a prize example.
