Theodore Roosevelt: Invitation and Place Cards for His First Wedding. 4.25" x 6.75" engraved invitation (lacking blank integral leaf) to Teddy Roosevelt's first wedding in 1880. It reads, in full: "Mr. & Mrs. George C. Lee request the pleasure of your company at the marriage of their daughter Wednesday October Twenty-seventh at Twelve o'clock. Unitarian Church Brookline." Two small place setting cards for "Mr. Theodore Roosevelt" and "Miss Alice H. Lee" accompany the invite. The wedding occurred on Roosevelt's 22nd birthday. Their first child, Alice Lee, was born on February 12, 1884. Two days later the mother, Alice Hathaway Lee, died of Bright's disease. That same day, in the same house, TR's mother died of typhoid fever. Roosevelt wrote "The light has gone out of my life." We have never seen any other examples of these artifacts which should draw wide collector interest. A special lot.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
