    James Madison: Dinner Invitation To Governor Of Indiana. Rare handwritten response from the Governor of Indiana Jonathan Jennings accepting an invitation to dine at the Madison White House. The response, which measures 4 7/8" x 7 7/8", reads "J. Jennings presents his respects to the President of the U.S. and with pleasure accepts his invitation to dine on Thursday next at 4 o'clock. March 20, 1816". On the reverse it reads "The President of the U. States". Wax seal present, and in excellent condition. The Eric C. Caren Collection.
