Horace Greeley: Two Delightful Anti-Greeley Imprints. This lot has two booklets issued in 1872 when Horace Greeley was running for President on the Liberal Republican and Democratic Tickets. Greeley was always seen as an eccentric and crank and therefore was often lampooned. The first item in the lot is a 6" x 9" biography in pictorial wraps titled "Life of Greeley. A Series of Wonderful Facts and Startling Revelations... Written in 29 1/2 Minutes by the Great Trance Medium, Prof. J. B. Rosewood." It is 112 pages and was published by Fisher & Dennison of New York. It is full of comic illustrations. There is chipping and loss to the front cover and some minor tears to the back cover, but it is fine or better. The other item is a 7" x 10" diatribe titled "The Comic Life of Horace Greeley", published by Winchell & Small of New York. It is full of outrageous, politically-incorrect illustrations, including one that shows a stereotypical Irishman and Negro tied together as Siamese twins. The covers are soiled, chipped and detached. The interior is very fine.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
