Henry Clay: Anti-Jackson 1832 Imprint with Cartoon. This is a 6" x 9" copy of the "United States Telegraph Extra" issued on September 27, 1832. It is 16 pages and has an anti-Jackson cartoon in which Jackson and Van Buren wait for their craniums to be measured by the phrenologist Dr. Spurzheim. A two-page poem follows in which the poet urges the doctor to "urge him [Jackson] to retire to Tennessee." Regarding Van Buren: "His largest bump - you'll find, as I should guess/ Either low cunning or deceptiveness:/ And next to these - the only one remaining - Worth special note - the Jewish bump of gaining." It has a minor damp stain along the right edge.
