    Benjamin Butler and Grover Cleveland: Satirical Currency.
    1) 7.5" x 3.25" $1000 note satirizing Ben Butler and the People's Party, undated but likely issued in 1878 when Butler was running for Governor of Massachusetts. He appears on both sides. 2) Similar 8" x 3.75" $1000 note dated July 24, 1880, signed in type by Ben Butler satirizing the monetary policy of the Greenback and People's Party. 3) 3.5" x 9.5" $5 note on the Cleveland [wildcat] Bank of Bungtown, N. J. dated October 21, 1892 picturing the Democratic candidate for President. Some aging, vertical folds and paper remnants on verso from previous mounting on an album page.
