Abraham Lincoln: Two Pieces of New Hampshire Campaign Ephemera. 7 ¾" x 9 ¾" letter on "Presidential Campaign of 1860. Office of the New-Hampshire Republican State Committee" letterhead, 2pp. with blank integral leaf, signed by B. F. Prescott, as Secretary of the organization. He talks about visiting the State Fair in Manchester, his optimism for a Republican victory in the state elections in Pennsylvania that will result in the election of Andrew Curtin, and his request to William Seward to come to New Hampshire to give a speech. Excellent condition with usual folds. Quite graphic. Sold together with a 4-page letter from Prescott, 5" x 8" on "Office of the Republican State Committee" stationery, November 17, 1860, marked "Confidential". In part: "My Dear Morgan, I trust you feel well since our glorious victory. It must be pleasing to you as one of the delegates at Chicago to see the American people so heartily approve of your action." The balance of the letter deals with the effort to get Amos Tuck of Exeter appointed as Secretary of the Navy in the new administration. Prescott requests the names of all the New Hampshire delegates at Chicago and solicits their support, as well as that of Morgan. "As a matter of State pride we would all like to see one of our members in the Executive Branch of the Government."
