    Description

Abraham Lincoln: Five Unmounted Cartoon CDV Albumens. This lot has five albumen photos of anti-McClellan, pro-Lincoln election cartoons from 1864. They appear never to have been mounted, although one has clipped corners. That one shows McClellan and James Gordon Bennett attempting to gain entrance to the White House. The others show "Mac-Napoleon" vocalizing a comical ditty, McClellan trying to choose between the equally attractive goddesses of war and peace, Vallandigham waiting for another opportunity to be accepted by the Confederates and a final example of Lincoln viewing Little Mac and the Chicago Platform as a joke. These are scarce in any format. We suspect they may have originated in a photographer's album.
