Abraham Lincoln: 1860 Indiana Poll Book. Most unusual election document from the pivotal election of 1860. It is a 12-page booklet bound in twine, printed and manuscript, recording the votes tallied in Blue River, Harrison County, Indiana, on Election Day 1860. The number of votes received for each slate of Presidential Electors is summarized on the front and back of the cover page. Three interior pages list the names of the 190 voters who participated. Several pages are blank while the document is docketed on the back page. What makes this unusual is the fact that the names of the four presidential candidates (Douglas & Johnson, Lincoln & Hamlin, etc.) are spelled out. This is typically not the case. Some looseness to first "saddle" of four pages with minor edge tear, but totally intact. The voters in this Hoosier town gave 122 votes to Douglas, 67 to Lincoln, 1 to Bell and 0 to Breckinridge (Breck got 'blitzed!").
