    Description

[Andrew Carnegie and H. C. Frick]: 1892 Homestead Steel Strike Wildcat $5 Currency. 9 ½" x 4" funny money titled "Republican Wild-Cat Money" and issued by the "Monopoly Bank". It criticizes Carnegie, Frick, Wanamaker and the McKinley Tariff Bill of 1891, as well as the Pinkertons. The central image shows the "Protection" wildcat above the prostrate body of a striker. The reverse side shows a silver dollar and what percentage of "the Wageworkers Dollar That Goes For Taxes". Three light folds. Quite historic... the only example we have seen.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
