John F. Kennedy: Ft. Worth Breakfast Archive. Prior to departing for Dallas on the morning of November 22, 1963, JFK and the First Lady had breakfast in the Grand Ballroom of the Hotel Texas in Fort Worth. The event was sponsored by the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber made all the arrangements and picked up the tab for Kennedy and his staff. We offer an archive of material related to this event, many one-of-a-kind, retained by an employee of the Chamber of Commerce. It includes a double-matted and framed ticket for "Breakfast with President and Mrs. John F. Kennedy" (2.25" x 3.5" sight), thirty-seven [37] index billing cards (7" x 7") from the Hotel Texas with itemized charges for JFK and associated guests (Governor Connally, Evelyn Lincoln, Dave Powers, General Clifton, Larry O'Brien, Kevin O'Donnell, Jim Wright, Senator Yarborough et al) with the transmittal envelope, floor plans for the breakfast hall with annotations reflecting the anticipated movements of the President, plus two file folders filled with letters, mimeographed sheets and handwritten notes dealing with the event. On one such sheet, the President's hat and boot sizes are noted (JFK received a cowboy hat and boots as gifts on this occasion). A unique archive dealing with a tragic day in American history.
