    Description

Zachary Taylor: Most Unusual and Colorful Campaign Stogie Case. 3" x 5" papier-mâché stogie case with full color portrait of the 1848 Whig candidate on the cover, beneath an eagle, shield and flag. Titled: "Genl. Zachs. Taylor.", it is inscribed: "Old 'Rough and Ready' The Hero of the War With Mexico". Lacks the leather bellows, but is otherwise complete (front cover, back cover, leather insert). Light, very fine surface crazing. Displays beautifully. We do not recall seeing this particular version. From the Scott W. Dolson Collection.
