Very Rare and Sought-After Large 1840 William Henry Harrison Sulfide. In our opinion, one of the truly great political artifacts, it is the largest of all sulfides, and the only double-sided one, held together by a very decorative pewter rim. Because of the high dome of the glass, these tend to be seen with worn or scratched surfaces and, of course, the sulfide itself is vulnerable to cracking, but the glass surface on this specimen is the finest we have ever seen. All sulfides are vulnerable to moisture which, when it works its way inside the item, leads to various degrees of flaking of the background paint. On this example there are some hints of incipient flaking, but no actual flaking whatsoever. All in all, as fine an example as one could hope to find of this wonderful campaign relic. The original red silk ribbon on top, by which it was suspended, is a nice touch. One of the prize items from the Joe Brown Collection. Private and public sale records to nearly $10,000.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
