    1) D. W. Bartlett, "The Life of Gen. Franklin Pierce", Auburn, Derby & Miller, 300 pp., 1852. Bound in brown cloth, 5" x 7". A clean, tight copy in very fine condition. 2) Another example of the previous, bound in green cloth with library stamps and catalog number on spine. Light wear, good overall. 3) Nathaniel Hawthorne, "Life of Franklin Pierce", Boston, Ticknor, Reed and Fields, 144 pp., 1852. Bound in dark, brown cloth, 4.75" x 7.25", minor loss/damage to extremities of spine, a very clean and tight copy. Highly-valued because of its author and not its subject.
