Andrew Jackson: Superb Rare and Unusual Variety of Portrait Straight Razor. We have never seen this elegant design before. The motifs are the same on each side of the horn handle, which is of a variegated coloration as made. In the center is a crisp, high-relief military bust of Jackson facing left, with name underneath. Below is a military image of cannon, shot, drum, flags, etc. Above the bust are a lyre and vines. Beautiful condition. Possibly celebrating his military feats in the War of 1812 or campaign against the Cherokee Indians; or perhaps an 1820s political item, but surely no later. Condition is beautiful, and this is almost certainly the finest razor of its genre we have encountered. Length 6". Comes with a vintage case, which is not original to the piece. From the collection of U. I. "Chick" Harris.
