John F. Kennedy: "Texas Welcome Dinner" I.D. Badges. There are fifty-nine [59] numbered Press I.D. badges in plastic sleeves in this collection. They were issued for the "Texas Welcome Dinner Honoring President and Mrs. Kennedy and Vice President and Mrs. Johnson" on November 22, 1963 in Austin. They are attached to the original cards. They were retained by Dave Smith, in charge of public relations for the event and well as liaison with the press. Over the years, he gave out a few to friends as souvenirs but, for the most part, the collection has remained intact. Mr. Smith died in 2008. Although pictured in Harvey Goldberg's exemplary reference work on Kennedy items, we do not recall seeing any of these for sale in general political auctions. If offered individually, we believe these would sell for a premium (a set of Press and Staff badges is being offered elsewhere in the catalog). Unfortunately, time constraints preclude that option. This is a great opportunity for the enterprising dealer or dealer/collector to acquire historic items issued on that fateful day in Texas.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
