    Description

Cox & Roosevelt: Supremely Rare Jugate 1920 Campaign Watch. One of the "signature" rarities in the Frent Collection, it is featured in Running for President, 1900-1992, edited by Arthur Schlesinger, Jr., page 118. Portraits of the running mates appear on the dial, while the back of the case has a red and blue American flag and the stamped lettering "Cox for President." A matching example for Harding & Coolidge is also known in a Florida collection. Each is believed to be the only known specimen in this form, strongly suggesting that these were manufacturer's samples, never produced in quantity. One other example of the jugate dial is known, formerly a "signature" item in the legendary Joe Brown Collection. However, that watch has a plain case. Cosmetically, the Frent watch is in beautiful, near-mint condition, although it does not appear to be in working order. Diameter 2".

Collectors have always placed a high value on Cox & Roosevelt jugate buttons, with one 1¼" version selling privately for $140,000 some years ago. However, other forms of Cox & Roosevelt jugates are also highly prized, witness the $27,500 and $21,250 attained respectively for the jugate post card and poster sold in the February 2018 Frent Collection auction. The extreme rarity, unique display appeal, and compatibility with Cox campaign buttons and badges signal tremendous bidder interest in this, one of the premier pieces in the Frent Collection.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
