VERY RARE COLORFUL 1920 CALVIN COOLIDGE NOTIFICATION BADGE 1 ½" CELLULOID. The reverse side of the celluloid has a full color eagle with "Norhampton, Mass July 27, 1920, while the front side shows the US Capitol. The length is 7½". From the turn of the century to 1940 it was the practice of the candidates not to attend the National Convention in person. Accordingly, after their nomination, huge delegations of political leaders and party faithfuls would visit the nominee with much pomp and ceremony, to formally notify him of his nomination. The collecting of these Notification Day items has been a "hot" collecting specialty. We’ve never had this variety which is doubly desirable because it is for Coolidge. Coolidge items are strongly sought after anyway.
