    Description

Stephen Douglas: A Rare and Desirable 1860 Silk Ribbon Identifying Him as the "Little Giant." Although Sullivan & Fischer picture eleven different designs of Douglas campaign ribbons, this is very deceptive. All are rare, and it is likely that a total of well under 50 examples of all varieties have survived. This is a particularly attractive specimen on green silk. A few very minor hints of aging are noted for accuracy, but as the photo shows, this is a most pleasing specimen. 2" x 6.75". From the Merrill C. Berman Collection.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
