Martin Van Buren: A Superb Large Silk Campaign Ribbon. Dramatic large 3.5" x 8.25" size, great condition and rarity combine to make this one of the best obtainable ribbons for this tough candidate. The only other example we are aware of is an inferior copy published by Sullivan & Fischer as MVB-5 (page 51).
Light pink silk further enhances the appeal of this great ribbon. Condition is near-mint, crisp with full original selvage across top and bottom. For strictest accuracy we note a little trivial, very light surface soiling, a typical horizontal fold line, and a couple inconsequential small stains below the final "N" in Van Buren. However, this ribbon is in wonderful condition overall. From the Merrill C. Berman Collection.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
