Lincoln & Hamlin: Classic 1860 Jugate Silk Ribbon with Brady Photos. The Lincoln is the iconic "Copper Union" image taken by Brady when the candidate - then a dark horse - spoke at the Cooper Institute in New York in February 1860. The Brady photo was widely distributed and is credited with helping Lincoln achieve national visibility. This is one of four jugate ribbon varieties made in 1860 with Brady images for the four political tickets: Lincoln & Hamlin, Douglas & Johnson, Bell & Everett and Breckinridge & Lane. While the Douglas variety is the rarest, the Lincoln version is the one which has captured the hearts of generations of collectors. Heritage set an all-time record when we sold the Merrill Berman Collection example for $22,500 in February 2016. The Frent specimen is fully the equal of the Berman ribbon but for one minor small stain at the very top. One of the prize ribbons in the Frent Collection, it measures 2.625" x 7.25".
