John C. Breckinridge: A Rare 1860 Silk Campaign Ribbon with Brady Image. One of a matching set for the four 1860 presidential candidates (also Lincoln, Douglas and Bell), and as such, always a collector favorite. Breckinridge of Kentucky served as Buchanan's Vice President before his 1860 candidacy, and when the South seceded he supported the Confederacy and became one of its leading Army generals.

Condition is virtually mint, but for a trivial small staining at the top edge. Old glue residue on the four corners of the back, as often found on these, shows through as light inoffensive staining. This is a particularly important ribbon for collectors, because other designs for this candidate are all but unobtainable.
