    Description

James Monroe: A Most Unusual and Rare Large Silk Memorial Ribbon. A relic of the 1858 disinterment of Monroe's remains for reburial in his native Virginia. The only example we have seen, and as close as the serious ribbon collector will get to having an example from our fifth President. 2.875" x 10". Excellent condition except for stain in lower left as shown. Pictured in Arthur Schlesinger's Running For President, The Candidate and Their Images 1789-1896, page 83.
