    Description

Henry Clay: Graphic and Rare New York City "Flag" Ribbon. 2.75" x 6" silk ribbon, horizontally formatted, issued for members of the "Knickerbocker Clay Club". The canton has twenty-two stars in the "Great Star" pattern. Excellent condition. Is it a flag or a ribbon? Well, there is some excess "white" along the left side, facilitating attachment to a small stick. It could also be folded over into a sleeve. A wonderful piece of political memorabilia no matter how you slice it!

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
