Description

Franklin Pierce: Exceedingly Rare 1852 Green Silk Campaign Ribbon. Along with Scott and Cass, the toughest mid-19th century candidate to find on a silk ribbon. Sullivan and Fischer picture but two single-portrait designs. This unlisted style is the only one with 1852 dates, and has a distinctive woodcut portrait. There are probably fewer than ten single-portrait Pierce ribbons of all varieties. This one is a beauty, in crisp condition, essentially mint but for some trivial light yellowish discoloration below the portrait. 2.25" x 7.125". From the Merrill C. Berman Collection.
