    Description

Fillmore & Donelson: A Very Colorful 1856 Silk Campaign Ribbon. Always a collector favorite as it is one of the few red, white, and blue ribbon designs of the era. We have always been puzzled by the paucity of colorful designs among early political ribbons, as the technology to do things more creatively was certainly available. This Fillmore version is particularly desirable because, once one gets past a couple of designs which were clearly widely distributed, there really are very few different varieties for this candidate. Light, very even overall "aging", and a small piece missing from the edge on the right side. A pleasing example nonetheless. Length 7.75".
