Abraham Lincoln: One of the Very Best 1860 Campaign Ribbons. This large 3.125" x 8.5" ribbon, with its bold red overprinting, makes quite a statement. It is listed by Sullivan and Fisher as AL-20; however the authors, unable to locate an example to photograph, show only a line-drawn representation of a copy which clearly had heavy horizontal folds or separations. This example presents in great display condition, although it has been given an almost undetectable backing by a top professional conservator in order to stabilize several incipient partial horizontal separations. If one wished to own just a single representative Lincoln campaign ribbon, it is hard to imagine a finer choice. Note: Vertical striations are in the ribbon itself as made and are not a condition issue.
