Description

Watercolor Painting "1 Molesworth Street, Wellington" by Robin Kay, Benefiting Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. The painting shows the Tivoli Theater and other buildings near the Parliament in Wellington, New Zealand. It is signed and dated "1963" in the lower left corner. The painting, a watercolor on paper, measures 20-inches by 14-inches. It is attractively matted and framed to an overall size of 30-inches by 24.5-inches. President Johnson purchased the painting on his October 1966 visit to New Zealand. Robin Kay (1919 - ) is a painter and writer. A member of the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts, he is represented in a number of major public and private collections. This lot will be accompanied by a letter of authenticity signed by Lynda Johnson Robb.

A full 100% of the net proceeds will benefit the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center at the University of Texas at Austin, in honor of the 2012 Centennial of Lady Bird Johnson's birth.
