Theodore Roosevelt: Life Casting of Right Hand. 6.5" x 8.5" plaster plaque depicting a right-hand above-the-wrist, with suspension loop at top. Incised inscription on verso reads: "Right hand of Theodore Roosevelt imprinted by Mary E. Burt Englewood Cliff, N.J." A Letter of Provenance is signed by Edwin M. Henderson and the collector to whom he sold it, Raleigh DeGeer Amyx who says: "... I called Mr. Henderson ref. T.R. plaster hand. He said his father was given it in 1931 while attending Columbia University Graduate School. Mr. Henderson said the T.R. hand was completed in D.C. from life in the 1920s or before!" Obviously, if that's the case (which we believe it to be), the cast was made in 1919 or before. Some light surface wear, but fully intact with no evidence of damage or repair.
