    Description

Napoleon Bonaparte: St. Helena Relic. This 3" x 7 3/4" piece of varnished wood was walked upon by Napoleon during the last days of his life, during his exile to the island of St. Helena. It has an inlaid brass plaque engraved: "Part of/ Napoleon's Chamberfloor/ At Longwood/ Island of St. Helena/ Feb. 11, 1835." It is housed in a mahogany frame with an attached label detailing its history. Napoleon lived in a building named Longwood and died there in 1821. The building was then used as a barn and stable for several years. It was subsequently restored and set up as a museum. The floor fragment was given as a gift to President Andrew Jackson in 1835 who, in turn, gave it to his "adopted son" (Andrew Jackson Donelson). It was removed from Longwood on February 11th 1835, prior to the commencement of renovation. Here is a chance to own something touched by someone who left a big footprint on history!
