Description

John F. Kennedy: White House Oval Office Desk Pen Set. Personally owned by the president, this Sheaffer's fountain pen set with obsidian base and brass name plate measures 5" x 3.5". In so many ways a modern man, President John F. Kennedy enjoyed writing with an old-fashioned fountain pen. This is the Sheaffer fountain pen set he used at his desk in the Oval Office of the White House. The black obsidian base has a brass plate engraved "JOHN F. KENNEDY" and is marked "SHEAFFER" in gold on one side. A movable brass pen holder is secured to the base. A black Sheaffer fountain pen sits in the holder. Accompanied by two 8" x 10" color photographs of the president in the Oval Office with the pen set visible on his desk, one taken by Robert Knudsen dated August 23, 1962. The base of the pen set has a medium-sized chip in the upper right corner and a small chip in the upper left corner. Otherwise, in fine condition. From the Robert L. White Collection.

From the collection of Dr. Dean Rudoy.
