Dwight D. Eisenhower: Gold Golfing Money Clip. Besides his ability as a general, Ike was known as a golfer, and a decent one at that. Here is a unique presentation piece that will appeal to the duffer in all of us, not to mention the countless people who can proudly say "I Like Ike". It is a hefty 2.5" x 1" gold money clip depicting a golfer in the fairway hitting off a drive with a bridge in the background. Hopefully, he avoids the water hazard. The back side is engraved: "To/ President Dwight D. Eisenhower/ from your many friends at/ Bel-Air Country Club/ in appreciation for your great contribution/ to the game of golf". Ike had a 14-18 handicap and broke 80 on several occasions. He installed a practice putting green on the White House lawn. He became close friends with fellow Pennsylvania resident, Arnold Palmer, winner of the 1958 Masters. He was inducted into the Golf Hall of Fame in recognition for his work in popularizing the sport. The clip is stamped "14K Ruser" (Beverly Hills jeweler William Ruser). It weighs in at 54.8 grams. The closet we got to the Bel-Air Country Club was the public course at Rancho Park. Sold as part of lot 165 in Sotheby's September 24, 2015 auction of "Property Formerly From the Collection of President Dwight D. Eisenhower."
