Capitol Building Flag Presented Directly to Gerald Ford as a Congressman. The flag is accompanied by a letter addressed to Ford from the architect of the Capitol, J. George Stewart, presenting him with the flag and certifying that it had flown over the Capitol building. This lot is also accompanied by a letter of provenance from the consignor, who received the flag directly from Ford after his presidency. It is in its original box, marked "Rep. G.R. Ford #230" on the top, and 8238 Ford" on one end.

The flag, approximately 52" x 32.5", has sewn stars and stripes, and although a bit faded, is in excellent condition. Flags flown over the White House and Capitol are avidly collected. This one, presented to a congressman and future president, is an especially appealing example.
