Abraham Lincoln: Strands of Hair and Funeral Train Relic. 22" x 18" framed display that includes "Authentic Strands of Abraham Lincoln's Hair, Together with a Piece of the Actual Flag Which Hung From Lincoln's Funeral Train." The frame includes a caption card, color photocopy of Lincoln's autograph, a modern portrait and a color photocopy of the original lock of hair. Laying on top of that photocopy are four strands of actual Lincoln hair. The flag relic is .75" x .25". The lot is accompanied by two Letters of Authenticity signed by Ryan T. Mack. They indicate the flag relic was previously sold by Alexander Autographs (accompanied at the time by a letter from flag-owner Paul Mills, but not present) and that the strands of hair were taken from a lock given to Lincoln presidential secretary Edward D. Neilll who founded Macalester College in Minnesota who later deaccessioned it. A photocopy of the back of the frame that housed the Neill hair is attached.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
