Abraham Lincoln Assassination: Deathbed Relic and Hair Samples. 11" x 14" matted display containing three relics associated with the Lincoln assassination: 1) approximately six clippings or snippets of Lincoln's hair each approximately 3/4" in length. 2) a 1/2" x 5/8" section of the deathbed sheet. 3) four snippets of hair from William Seward. The three relics are housed behind domed lenses which magnify them. The linen relic was part of the Charles K. Tuckerman Papers sold by autograph dealer Mary A. Benjamin (a copy of her Letter of Provenance is included along with a color photocopy of the original section of blood-stained linen and the corresponding documentation). It was subsequently sold by Alexander Autographs. The hair samples were collected in 1865 by Mrs. Caroline Wright, wife of Indiana Governor Joseph A. Wright. They were sold by Christie's in 1992 and again in 2002 (Forbes Collection lot #121). A "Certificate of Authenticity" from Cary Delery of the Historical Shop in Metairie, Louisiana, related to all three relics, is included.
