[Zachary Taylor]: Family-owned Pocket Watch. This watch belonged to Zachary Taylor's youngest daughter, Ann Mackall Taylor and her husband, Richard Crooke Wood. Family tradition holds that the watch first belonged to President Taylor. We cannot confirm that, although we were also given a watch from the same consignor that definitely belonged to him, offered elsewhere in the catalog. This lever fuseé open face pocket watch was made by John Cragg of London. It has an enamel dial with bull's eye crystal. It has an engine turned design on the back cover. A portion of the hour hand is missing. There is a woven hair "chain" and fob attachment. The watch is currently not running. It is circa 1830-1850, so it is of the correct period. It will be accompanied by a Letter of Provenance from the consignor detailing its line of ownership.
