[Warren G. Harding]: Large Florence Harding Framed Display. Framed items related to First Lady Florence Harding, items originally purchased and obtained in the 1970s from a Harding collector in his hometown of Marion, Ohio and local sale of the estate of Mrs. Harding's granddaughter Jean DeWolfe. Included are: (1) a White House engraving autographed by the First Lady, (2) a large oval photograph of her given to friends and family during the 1920 presidential election campaign, (3) a pair of gloves worn by her during the 1923 transcontinental trip of the Hardings and voyage to Alaska, (4) half of the broken 78 r.p.m. record of Florence Harding's favorite music, Saint-Saen's Carnival of the Animals that she brought along and played on a Victrola during the Alaska trip, (5) a telegram sent to the First Lady from her confidante Evalyn Walsh McLean, the heiress and owner of the cursed Hope Diamond, upon hearing of the President's sudden death, (6) a black-bordered mourning card from Mrs. Harding, engraved with her acknowledgement of condolences sent to her.Auction Info
