[Abraham Lincoln]: Set of Four Edwards Family Side Chairs, Possibly Used by Lincoln. A set of four antique chairs that once belonged to Benjamin and Helen K. Edwards. Helen K. Dodge married Benjamin Edwards of Springfield, Illinois in 1839 and came to Springfield as a bride. Benjamin Edwards's older brother, Ninian Edwards, married Elizabeth Todd, Mary Todd Lincoln's older sister. As a result, Benjamin and Helen Edwards became acquainted with Abraham and Mary Lincoln, and Helen and Mary became lifelong friends. The Benjamin and Helen Edwards home in Springfield, located at 700 North 4th Street, was the center of Springfield's early social and political life. Benjamin Edwards and Abraham Lincoln were fellow lawyers who operated in the same legal and social circles. Abraham and Mary Lincoln were frequent visitors to the Edwards home and likely used one or more of the chairs now in the Dow Collection. The Edwards's home passed to one of their daughters, Mrs. B. H. Ferguson, who deeded the property to the Springfield Art Association in 1913. The chairs in the Dow Collection were purchased in 1975 from the estate of Eliza B. Condell, a granddaughter of Helen Edwards. Eliza Condell once lived with Helen Edwards. A letter of authenticity, signed by Christina M. Jones, a great-granddaughter of Benjamin and Helen Edwards, accompanies the chairs and attests to the history of these artifacts. The chairs were professionally refinished and re-upholstered after Don Dow acquired them. They are approximately 32" in height and appear to be made of mahogany.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
