John Quincy Adams: 1820s Vintage Trunk, Lined with a Fabulous Adams Campaign Broadside. "Republican Nomination/ for President/ John Quincy Adams/ For Vice President/ Richard (Rush)", plus a long list of state and local candidates. At the top a patriotic Eagle and the slogan "Don't Give up the Ship". The broadside was taken apart to line the lid, bottom and all four sides. Unfortunately, while it mostly seems to be there, the broadside is not complete and cannot be resurrected. It would certainly have been worth doing so, however: it appears to have been at least 20" x 24" in size, and would command upwards of $10,000 if complete and in good condition! This is a wonderful artifact nonetheless, a period wood trunk with original metal latch. The lid originally had a tacking pattern, but nearly all the tacks have been removed, presumably to put to other uses. This piece is in good overall display condition and oozes "period charm." 14" x 6.25" x 6.25".
