    Description

Hamden Whig Broadside Extra: Announcing Re-Election Of Andrew Jackson. Fantastic broadside extra from Springfield, Mass., November 10, 1832, 14 1/2" x 20 1/4", toned, else fine. The piece announces the re-election of Andrew Jackson to a second term, and has amazing content, in part "The Bank Monster has been tumbled from his Golden Throne and trodden under foot by the Independent yeomanry of the great and patriotic states of New York and Pennsylvania.... ANDREW JACKSON, the Patriot, the statesman, the Hero, the People's Friend, is re-elected President. The Republic is safe-Let us rejoice". Jackson was against a national banking system, thus the Bank Monster comment. Andrew Jackson material is scarce, with this great piece being no exception. The Eric C. Caren Collection.
