    Description

Frémont & Dayton: Monumental 1856 Jugate Broadside. 27 1/4" x 30 1/2" (sight) and 39 3/4" x 43" framed overall. Rare Anti-Slavery map from the 1856 Presidential campaign. Published by W.C. Reynolds and J.C. Jones; Chicago, Rufus Blanchard, New York. Features large images of Frémont and Dayton in the upper right and left corners. The piece is titled "Reynolds's Political Map of the United States Designed to Exhibit the Comparative Area of the Free and Slave States and the Territory Open to Slavery or Freedom by the Repeal of the Missouri Compromise". This was a hot topic during the campaign of 1856, which then lead to the start of the Civil War some 5 years later. The piece is absolutely stunning with bold bright colors and graphics. The are a few inconsequential areas of loss at the original folds, but they are mentioned just for accuracy sake. The piece has been custom framed to the highest museum standards. A fantastic 1856 campaign broadside.
