    Description

    Emperor Maximilian Execution Broadside. One page, 8.75" x 13.25", Press of Mariano L. Lopez and Co., June 20, 1867, in Spanish. On the 14th of June, Ferdinand Maximilian was condemned by a court martial. This broadside announces the proceedings issued by a telegram from General Escobedo. Translated:

    "Tacubaya to Puebla, June 19, 1867. - Mr. Governor. - General C. Escobedo addressed me today from Queretaro the following telegram. On this date, I say to the C. Minister of War: "On the 14th of this day at eleven o'clock at night, they have condemned Ferdinand Maximillian of Hapsburg, Miguel Miramon, and D. Tomas Mejia, to suffer the death penalty: After this sentence was confirmed by this general staff on the 15th, the 16th was set for its execution, which was suspended until today by disposition of the Supreme Government. It is now seven in the morning, at which hour the afore-cited Maximilian, Miramón, and Mejía have just faced the firing squad. - Please communicate this to the President of the Republic. - Escobedo. - Díaz...".

    Condition: Minor taping on verso at bottom edge and small edge splits. Overall a very good.
