[Anti-James G. Blaine] Broadside. This not-so-subtle broadside measures approximately 12.375" x 9" and features a mock funeral for presidential candidate Blaine, "The Plumed Knight." Other specific politicians are textually included, but their names have been meshed with unflattering puns. Some of the politicians include: John A. Logan, Jay Gould, John St. John, Bella Lockwood, and Henry Ward Beecher. Jay Gould leads the cartoon procession, holding a telegraph pole representing his attempts to monopolize the telegraph industry along with a bag of money, possibly a jab concerning the "Black Friday" gold scandal of 1869. Printed on heavy stock paper, the back has some old adhesive residue and tape remnants. A minor tear is present at the right edge and the surface bears some scratching and wear throughout. In very good condition, this is a fun broadside for those with a darker sense of humor.
