    Description

William McKinley: One of the Finest and Most Sought-after of all Political Posters. From the height of the "golden era" of American color lithography, it features Americans from all walks of life hoisting McKinley, who is standing on a giant gold coin. Wonderful images of "Commerce" and "Industry," all backed by a rising sun. The imagery graphically portrays the appeal of McKinley's 1900 re-election campaign. One of only a very few-almost certainly fewer than ten-surviving examples. Heritage sold one of these in our May 2010 Americana, where it generated fierce bidding before selling for $17,925. A huge 28" x 42" poster with vibrant colors. Printed by Northwestern Lithography of Milwaukee.

    Condition report:
Mounted to linen. Folded in quarters with normal light fold lines. Some minor edge chipping along top edge and left side, of little consequence. Restoration to missing section of left, blank border and lower right corner, not affecting the plate. Faint lateral tear through five letters of the word "Commerce". Displays in near-mint condition. Bright and bold.
