Thomas & Maurer: 1932 Socialist Party Jugate Poster. 18" x 21 1/2" sepia poster issued for the 1932 Socialists. Titled: "Repeal Unemployment!" It reads: "For President Norman Thomas For Vice President James H. Maurer Vote Socialist". Thomas assumed the mantle of Socialist Party leadership after the death of Eugene Debs in 1926. He bested Debs's record for running for president, making the attempt six times. Since there is only one Thomas & Maurer jugate button known and jugate pamphlets lack much in graphics, this is the best available display piece for the 1932 Socialist ticket. Three examples were recently deaccessioned by an Eastern museum. This was part of that group and the one in the best condition, which is excellent.
