Franklin Roosevelt & Harry Truman: A Great Poster Attacking Both. This colorful cartoon poster, a design we have not encountered before, aggressively attacks the 1944 democratic ticket. It pictures and attacks FDR for his close association with advisor Sidney Hillman, who many felt had an undue influence over the frail president. Truman is also pictured and identified as "Pendergast's Truman", referring to the Missouri political boss who detractors often claimed pulled Harry's strings as if he were a marionette. This poster was issued by the Republican Central Campaign Committee of Philadelphia. It is unusual to find such a vitriolic poster as an official campaign committee issue. One fine horizontal center fold line and a trivial bit of "aging" do not detract. Measures 12" x 18".
