Description

William Jennings Bryan: Pair of Terrific Buttons for 1900. One of the best cartoon button rarities is paired with an exceptional jugate for the 1900 campaign of William Jennings Bryan. A great 1¾" design mocks the Republican's promise of a "full dinner bucket." An excellent example without the usual problems seen on these seldom encountered distinctive pieces. Complete with backpaper. "The Watchword Stand By The Republic" jugate for Bryan and Stevenson is a rare 1 1/4" button with portraits of the 1900 Democrats superimposed on two American flags. This slogan relates to Bryan's anti-imperialist position in that campaign. M. C. Lilley & Company of Columbus backpaper. One miniscule light age spot below the "R" in "Republic" is the only flaw against an otherwise choice condition grading. Two key Bryan buttons that are a "must have" for any 1900 pinback collection!
